Subaru XV

The Subaru XV's sense of adventure will inspire you to go further. It makes every journey that bit less ordinary, whether you travel a hundred miles or just into town and back again. And if you venture off-road the all-wheel drive arrangement will make traversing rough terrain both simple and safe.

Such compact, stylish looks lend a futuristic atmosphere to one of the original forerunners of the crossover segment, and just as you'd expect from such a model, build quality is exceptionally high.

The emphasis has clearly been on flexibility with the XV, as it offers an adaptable interior and plenty of choice when it comes to engines and transmissions. Top-spec models generate as much as 350Nm of torque, giving the car the ability to complete the 0-60mph sprint within ten exciting seconds.

Technology

Every Subaru sets the bar high for sheer driving enjoyment, and that experience is created by a variety of intelligent technologies. The manufacturer works hard to ensure that the thrill of the drive is recreated for you every time you take to the road – or venture off it, for that matter.

This innovative approach is found in a multitude of areas, including under the bonnet where cutting-edge engines have been fitted for optimum output on any surface. They're supported by equally impressive gearbox systems that deliver power with no interruption, as well as reassuring safety systems designed to protect you in all circumstances.

Subaru Lineartronic

You can select the transmission for the XV that best suits your own driving style. Each one pairs to its own finely-tuned version of Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive (see below).

Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive

Subaru's engineering team has constructed and positioned the drivetrain and engine within the XV in a perfectly straight line and symmetrical arrangement. This careful placement ensures that equal power can be delivered to all four wheels. In this way, you maintain full control over the vehicle and handling, regardless of the driving conditions.

Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive offers identically high support over tarmac and gravel, all year round. It forms the basis of all new Subaru models, including the XV, to bring you the ultimate in smooth, high-performance motoring.

Boxer Engine

A common – yet far from ordinary – feature within Subaru vehicles is the powerful Boxer Engine. It draws its name from the 'punch-counterpunch' horizontal action of the pistons. The engine is the first such horizontally-opposed diesel power unit to be built for use in passenger cars.

The placement of the Boxer engine is lower than would typically be the case, lending the XV a lower centre of gravity that just feels right. This creates quicker responses and higher agility for the car in motion, and such pulse-quickening acceleration comes at no detriment to the XV's strong efficiency and economy.

Safety

It should come as no surprise to discover that the XV has been awarded a full five-star safety rating following independent Euro NCAP testing. The achievement is clear recognition of the array of clever, forward-thinking systems packed into the vehicle.

Every version of the XV is reassuringly equipped. The front seats are specially designed to reduce whiplash, and accidents are lessened and mitigated by Subaru's Vehicle Dynamics Control. This exclusive system is supplemented with full surrounding SRS airbags, four-channel ABS and side protection beams.
